Repeat with me this mantra:
"Age is Wisdom, Wisdom is founded upon Knowledge, Knowledge is Power."
Learn it, Know it and Live by it for this is the basis of Dragon culture.
Age:
As should be obvious by the mantra, age is an important factor in Dragon culture. The older the Dragon, the more wisdom they have collected over the years. Elder Dragons are looked up to for advise of all kinds.
Gender:
Dragons are considered equal in all aspects bar one. Females are generally assumed to be more cool-headed and less likely to act rashly. This perhaps has some truths as testosterone fuelled males are known to be generally more aggressive. This belief has lead to Dragon's always appointing the eldest Female of the family to be the Matriarch.
Education:
Dragons that are old enough to defend themselves will often leave the safety of the family caverns to explore the world. This does not always go well as farmers do not appreciate Dragons eating their livestock. Dragons are known to defend those who appear to be in danger from attack. This is especially true when it comes to females of any race. It is thought that the love of the Matriarch makes Dragons more sensitive towards females. Dragons will also protect children as best they can. Lost young, however traumatised they may be by the event, will often be picked up and flown to the nearest safe town or gathering of the same race.
Sport:
There is no true sport though Dragons will band together to launch attacks on the Harpies. Large numbers are needed as flames cannot be used unless the Dragon wants to end up stranded. Despite the Dragon's large size they can be taken down by harpies if they are swarmed by enough. Dragons are occasionally lost if their wings are damaged and they find themselves unable to fly.
