The Centaur live primarily in small close-family clans lead by the Eldest male. This male is usually the father of the group.
Gender:
Centaurs in the Feral Woods live very simply. They exist in small family groups that are lead by a single male. This male is generally the father (or husband) of the group members. In some circumstances mothers may join their son's group if their husband dies. Males are expected to play the role of hunter-gatherer whilst women raise the young.
Males are bare-chested or can wear simple tunics. There's no need for them to cover anything but some choose to wear clothing for the look of it. These are usually younger centaur that have had contact with the humans under Duke Stronghelm's rule.
Female's wear just enough to cover their... erm... assets? shall we say. Or a feminine, loose fitted blouse.
Age:
Age rarely affects the Centaur's way of life though young Centaurs will respect their elders. Centaurs live to roughly the same age as humans.
Education:
Children will be taught astromony and other important life-skills by their mother and father or close family friends at the Celebration of Worth.
The Celebration of Worth:
All young male Centaurs are expected to undergo a six-month separation from their family. They do this to prove firstly, that they have the strength and cunning to survive without the protection of their fathers, and secondly, to learn for themselves what it takes to support themselves. Male Centaurs are only allowed to marry after this 6 months of separation.
Sport:
Centaurs enjoy a range of activities for entertainment. Though most prominant are hunting related skills such as archery or fishing. Races, jumping and other forms of competative physical activities are also greatly enjoyed. Centaurs also value wisdom and often will engage in board games or games of memory during the Celebration of Worth.
Other:
Centaurs aren't generally magic users though males that have undergone the rite of passage across the water will invariably have come into contact with humans. This is due to Duke Stronghelm recently moving into the forest that young centaurs would usually find themselves alone in. It can be assumed that some of them will have rudimentary skills that have been picked up. Please note that only centaurs that have left the isle will have learned this magic. Also please note that young centaur just leaving the isle won't be used to interactions with humans, sword skills, axe skills, common agricultural techniques, etc.
