Currently under the rule of King Shrenk. There are very few settlements in this area due to the resident Marsh Zombies.
The marsh itself is more like a swamp. It is thick with trees and vegetation and therefore extremely difficult to navigate. The majority of the swampland requires travelers to wade through waste-deep water or leap from the masses of tree roots to large rocks or other stationary obstacles.
Plants common in the marsh are great trees with widely spread tangled roots (a little like those found in mangrove swamps) and vine-like plants. One particular vine must be avoided at all costs and that is the Dracona Vine. This vine can be seen winding around trees and spreading through the tree tops. Though the vines are not dangerous, the waters around them must be avoided. Huge traps lay hidden under the water ready to close up around any unfortunate creature that steps into them. It is these vines that give the marsh its name for they snap up seemingly like dragon's jaws closing around prey. (like a giant underwater Venus Fly Trap.) Even some herbalists struggle to differentiate between regular vines and the Dracona Vine so they are incredibly difficult to avoid.
The people living close to the marsh have developed a rough walkway that allows easy travel in the immediate vicinity of the marsh. It consists of wooden planks and rough rope forming semi-stable bridges. These bridges link to narrow platforms built around the thickest tree trunks in the vicinity.
These walkways allow herbalists to acquire any marsh dwelling plants, with less risk from the resident marsh zombies that are occasionally spotted in the murky waters below.
Rarer herbs often require people to adventure further into the marsh than the walkways allow. This is incredibly dangerous and therefore considered folly by the people living around the marsh. Such expeditions often consist of around 15 - 20 men, though it is common for the group to return a few men short.
