The Woodland of the Betrothed is a large and almost tropical rainforest. It is home to the people of Duke Stronghelm and two particular Anja tribes. It is thought that these Anja tribes are distant relatives of the Eastern Anja tribes.
The Anja of the West are biologically and culturally identical to the Anja of the East, the only difference being that they have Duke Stronghelm living in their lands and are therefore much more peaceful with a rule.
Duke Stronghelm's influence is so great that they have taken to building homes out of brick and mud, and their stone temple is a remarkable sight - situated atop a clearing in the Eastern part of the forest.
Duke Stronghelm's people have adopted a very Anja-like lifestyle. They are hunter-gatherers now, hunting the tropical and varied animals of the forest. Their homes are, however, still built of the wood and stone from the surrounding lands and, much to the dismay of the Anja, they cleared a large portion of land to build a capitol city in before they were discovered. This capitol city has become known as the City of Ten Giant Roots due to the incredible tree they found growing off to the side that had exactly ten roots visible. The tree towers above the forest canopy and a common saying is that if something is impossible, you're more likely to climb The Grandie (the tree's name).
