History:
The first destination that the humans chose to inhabit after their initial homeland was the Western Land Mass which they colonized a mere 39 years ago under the rule of Duke Stronghelm I. They started on The Rolling Father, and declared it a land of peace for eternity, allowing free and fair sanctuary to all races. Exactly 25 years after colonizing The Rolling Father, they traveled North into the Woodland of the Betrothed and quickly forged an Alliance with the Elves and Anja that lived there, and that particular group of Humans has since remained living amongst them.
30 years ago Shrenk was crowned king, and it was only 6 years ago the discovery of a rare plant in the Eastern forest led Shrenk to desire the entire forest for his own. However, it was under the complete ownership of a multitude of Anja tribes whom would undoubtedly protest the invasion of the forest due to how they are sacred to them.
The King saw only one option: War with the Anja. This was strongly protested by Duke Stronghelm I, who had grown fond of the Anja and their peaceful way of life, this proved to be the end of the Duke as King Shrenk had him executed for treason. It was at that point that the ongoing war was started. The day King Shrenk executed Duke Stronghelm I was the very same day he invaded the forests and slaughtered three whole tribes of Anja.
The humans and Anja living on the Western Land Mass had no idea of the conflict, but the Northern port of Deity’s Grip would not join in the war and was declared a town of heretics by the King, it was at that point that a brave shipmaster vowed to bring the Western humans into an alliance with Deity’s Grip so as to form some resistance against King Shrenk.
The news was received as planned, and the Duke’s son assumed the roll of leader of the conflict, but calling himself Duke Stronghelm II in his father’s honour. He traveled back across to the Eastern Land Mass, landing in Deity’s Grip at which point they journeyed south to inform all of the Anja tribes that the King had gone mad, it was at this point the Anja were officially at war with King Shrenk, and the battle has gone on until this present day.
Way of Life:
The Humans of King Shrenk are ruled under a Totalitarian Monarchy. Anything that does not benefit them is considered hostile and exterminate. The spread of power and influence throughout the kingdom is uneven at best, with power being in the hands of those born into it, and those born into ordinary lives will struggle to be accepted. It is a world of nobles and peasants, with a middle ground seen as a tremendous achievement.
On the other hand, the Humans of Duke Stronghelm are ruled by a diplomatic order in cooperation with the Anja tribes. They are not bound by their nation to fight, they need only fight if they choose to. There is also an even spread of wealth, with birth and family having little to no effect on respect, it could be considered the polar opposite of Shrenk’s rule, and therefore the primary enemy.
Faith:
The people of King Shrenk are God-fearing ones, however it is not a God they fear, it is a man. The Dark Lord Razgriz is considered the single most powerful Mage Archidet has ever seen, and he works with King Shrenk. The reasons for such cooperation are shrouded from the public’s knowledge, and only the King and the Dark Lord know why they cooperate.
Razgriz appears in the main city of Claridom once a month, on the third Tuesday, to inspect his underlings and speak with the King. He is feared and followed to his every word, and anyone who dare question him is executed by either the King or Razgriz himself.
The people of Duke Stronghelm follow the deity known as Aeiseth, an angel whose power is supposed to work only against those of impure heart. She is the one who will allow the people of Duke Stronghelm to easily take down the whole of Shrenk’s army, as her divine influence stretches as far as to prevent physical harm.
Paladins of Aeiseth are considered the most holy people in the world, and they are to be addressed with respect equal to that of Aeiseth herself.
